Union Station Terminal, D.C.

Raeva and Shervin’s four day celebration melded their Persian and Kashmiri cultures in intimate and grand environments all around. The Mehndi (henna party) and Hindu ceremony took place in the bride’s garden at their Potomac residence. While the all white reception took place at the grand Union Station’s main hall in DC for over 550 guests. The Mehndi was in a tent in the backyard with lots of floral and Kashmiri accents. Hand painted mini shikaras graced the cocktail tables atop clusters of crushed glass to mimic water. A manzanita tree was used to suspend clusters of bangles and kashmiri jhumkay for guests as favors were one of the many interactive displays through the evening. This tent was later flipped to serve as an intimate dinner reception post ceremony that took place on the East side of the garden near the creek on the bride’s family property. The Hindu ceremony took place in a shaded area of their yard with an ombre purple to mauve colored Mandap with 4000+ hand strung petals creating arches on all 4 sides of the structure. In lieu of a bridal bouquet we created a luxe rose bud cuff with cascading garlands of fragrant blooms, this piece has become one of our most requested bridal accessories and looks more and more beautiful each time! With a whirlwind of romantic colors for the ceremony, Raeva opted for an all white reception at Union Station with the only color in the room being the colorful hand painted Kashmiri jewelry boxes set at each place setting. A grand 20’ water moat was made out of plexiglass holding crushed glass, water and white lotus flowers reminiscent of Kashmir, this installation served as the backdrop for the escort cards for guests during cocktail hour. One of our favorite installations from this reception was the all red cascade of roses and petals on the cake onto the dance floor. We had so much fun putting this together and presenting the final product to our client and we hope you enjoy it just as much experiencing it here through our blog post!
