Intimate Scottish & Indian Fusion Wedding

T

This couple was one of the first to host their wedding at the redesigned The River View at Occoquan. The scenic water view and weather made their outdoor Hindu Ceremony all the more an experience! The bride and groom chose to pay tribute to the groom’s Scottish heritage by adding the national flower, blue thistle, in the bridal bouquet and the groom’s boutonniere. For this summer ceremony we designed a draped square mandap with florals and vibrant greens lining the front. The gold sequin drapes add a touch of glam to this airy and fresh mandap. In order to improve lighting for photos and keep the couple and family members out of the summer sun, we draped the ceiling of the mandap. The back face of the Mandap was filled with custom crystal garlands with scattered orchid blooms to tie in with the white florals on the front face of the Mandap.

Soon after the ceremony guests moved to a waterfront facing terrace while candles were lit in the reception space. The couple chose to incorporate color through the use of peach amongst the creams and ivory colored blooms. The centerpieces in the room were a mix of tiered glass filled with roses and floating candles with low lying floral arrangements in coordinating colors on alternating tables.  To add to the evening’s dinner experience, the couple wanted to feature a dessert station on our hand-painted food cart. We used glass pedestals at the dessert display to make all the desserts accessible and visible. There were two focal points at the reception, a photo-op area with a traditional gold swing set in front of the floor to ceiling windows and the second, and the sweetheart table set against creamy champagne and peach drapes. What a fun great way for guests to mingle with the bride and groom! Browse through this lovely series and save a few of your favorites.
